The Way The Ball Bounces (feature film) is a poignant up-to the minute story about Dante Wallace, a basketball prodigy whose life is at a crossroads due to a devastating knee injury. Fueled by the hope that one more operation will revive his career, Dante takes a summer job on the Nawbe Nation reserve as the coach of the juvenile boys basketball team. Or so he thinks. Once he arrives, Dante finds himself a fish out of water faced with the impossible task of taking eight aboriginal teenaged girls, each with their own problems, and shaping them into a team. For one thing he is unprepared to deal with the crying, the catfights and the general mayhem that surrounds teenage girls who are becoming women. The Way The Ball Bounces is an exciting blend of ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ meets ‘Hoop Dreams.’ It is a different kind of love story, the love between a coach and a team.
