Nine CSAs Wins for 40 Acres!

The R.T. Thorne-directed post-apocalyptic thriller 40 Acres (Hungry Eyes Media) led the film winners at the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards (CSAs) on Thursday (May 28) evening.

The first day of the CSAs ended with the Cinematic Arts Awards, which were hosted by television and radio personality Anne-Marie Withenshaw at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto.

40 Acres won nine awards overall, including the John Dunning Best First Feature Film Award, Achievement in Direction for Thorne and Original Screenplay for Thorne and Glenn Taylor. The film also picked up the awards for Achievement in Music – Original Score, cinematography, sound editing, art direction/production design, casting and stunt coordination.
